Painting the Still Life in Oil

About the Instructor
Tessa Tallakson is a classical oil painter who trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tessa has won numerous awards for painting, including a Full Tuition Donald R. Caldwell Scholarship, the J. Henry Schiedt Memorial Travel Scholarship Award, and a Hudson River Fellowship. Tessa has exhibited in Columbus, Montgomery, Auburn, Philadelphia and New York City.
Her work focuses primarily on still life and landscape subjects as well as portraiture. Tessa is greatly influenced by classical paintings of the Spanish and Dutch Masters. Currently, Tessa lives and works in rural Notasulga, Alabama with her husband and Brittany Spaniel.

Workshop goals:
Learn oil painting materials and techniques.
Learn how to start a painting.
Learn how to get better at color mixing.
Gain confidence to experiment with paint.
Be inspired to paint on your own.

Disclaimer: The goal of this workshop is NOT to make a pretty painting. It is to encourage and equip you with skills and techniques to start your path towards becoming a better artist. Practice is the only way to gain mastery.

4th Annual OHS Superintendent’s Art Show

Join us for the 4th Annual OCS Superintendent's Art Show on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Artwork from students in grades K-12 will be featured. In addition, a group from The Vibe at Opelika High School Vibe will be providing musical entertainment.
